The Moon Cabin is a bunkie built on bedrock overlooking a lake. The cabin was designed to coordinate specific views of the property and function as a writer's cabin. Most of the features of the build were made in-house, including the desk, the lamp and the door. The theme of the moon was decided by the client as a reference to a series of other small cabins the family owns. The moon is represented in the project in two ways. The overhead lamp is gives the impression of a partially obscured moon, with rays of light peaking between gaps in the clouds. The cabin sits in a dark area of the property and the mirror feature on the door is designed to reflect moonlight and guide guests to the entrance.
