This reception area for Tendril’s Toronto office drew inspiration from themes of erosion, layering and natural analogues common in their work. The form is derived through a circulation study, imagining bodies eroding away material as they pass through the space. Integrated planting was featured, and lighting studies were conducted to support the placement of plants. After a series of design studies and iterations, a shop model was produced to test the feasibility of this project. Scripts produced in grasshopper hollowed out the forms and created a segmented and layered fabrication logic to be aligned by dowels for ease of assembly.
