The Tree and the Truss was installed by invitation at the Royal Academy for the annual Summer Show. The piece brought by Design + Make students was the result of their second term work exploring a timber column and truss system for the third phase of the Wakeford Hall project at Hooke Park. Their brief was to build a 1:1 section of the building using only timber from the Hooke Park forest. In this prototype, steel connections are still used, however these were removed through extensive break testing for the final building.
